The Rules!

The Rules!:

1. Submissions cannot be over the set word count (word count may change from contest to contest). Entries that are under are okay, but any entry over is immediately disqualified

2. Entries must include the set prompts [line, object, thing, etc]. Prompts differ from contest to contest, and some contests have no prompts whatsoever.

3. You'd be able to enter the contest from 12.00 AM on the first of that month, local time. Meaning, once it hits midnight where you are, you can begin to write. Submissions will close at 11.59 pm on the last day of that month. In short, you get a whole month to submit.

4. The top ten or so entries will be posted on the blog and the tumblr for the public to vote on. However, judges have an overall veto, so the most publicly popular entry is not guranteed to win.

5a. Applicants must submit the entry fee along with their contest submission. Fee will be $5 but if you'd like to donate more, you're welcome to. However: donating more than needed will not gurantee a winning spot, or even any sort of recognition besides a shout out on our website.

5b. If you would like to donate without entering the contest that's fine too. Just make sure you notify us and we'll add your name to the shoutout page.

6. Limit one entry per submission fee. Meaning, $5 - 1, $10 - 2, $100 - 20, etc.

7. Unless specific guidelines are posted (usually for a certain specific contest) it is safe to assume that any sort of literature will be accepted. Meaning, poetry, fiction, essay, etc, so long as your submission doesn't go over the word count s'all good.

8. Same with genre. As long as your submission includes the required prompt(s), and does NOT go over the word count, it will be accepted and reviewed.

9. Our wonderful judges will be working three (3) to a submission. This is to make sure no one person is judging on a bias, as well as to give each submission the focus and feedback it deserves.

10. Contests will run every two/three months. There will always be only one month to enter, but the judging may take up to two months to complete, depending on the number of entries we receive.

11. To send your entry:
[paypal/donation info here, once we set that up]

Attach your entry to your email, in a word document (preferably the new Word 7) and send it to: TheVaccuumContests@gmail.com

Please DO NOT send your submission in the body of your email. That gets messy.

[If you do not use Word then sending your submission in the body of the email is okay.]

Once all the entries have been judged, we will choose the Top Ten for the public to vote on. If your entry is not in the Top Ten, we will send you the feedback at this time.
